Declan Carroll comes from a family deeply rooted in the Thoroughbred industry. His father, David Carroll, enjoyed a successful training career before becoming a highly respected assistant trainer for both Mark Casse and Cherie DeVaux. His mother has spent many years working alongside top racing operations, while his sister, Aisling Carroll, has built an accomplished career of her own and currently serves as an assistant trainer in Kentucky. Raised in and around racing stables from an early age, Declan developed a lifelong passion for the sport and the horse industry.
Following a successful riding career that included more than 200 winners, Declan retired from race riding in the spring of 2024. He then expanded his industry experience by serving as an assistant trainer to Cherie DeVaux during the 2024 Saratoga meet before pursuing his true passion in bloodstock and racing management.
Since launching DC Bloodstock & Racing in 2025, Declan has been actively involved in acquiring quality Thoroughbreds for a diverse clientele, purchasing yearlings at the Keeneland September Sale and sourcing successful prospects through digital marketplaces. He continued that momentum throughout 2026, remaining highly active at leading two-year-old sales, including OBS and Timonium.
Today, Declan combines a horseman’s eye, hands-on racing experience, and a strong industry network to provide clients with trusted guidance in acquisitions, breeding, consignments, pinhooking opportunities, and racing management. His goal is simple: to help clients make informed decisions and achieve long-term success both on and off the racetrack.
Born into a Thoroughbred racing family, Declan grew up immersed in the industry, learning from accomplished horsemen and women at some of the sport's most respected operations.
A former jockey with more than 200 career victories, Declan combines firsthand racing experience with bloodstock knowledge gained through training, sales, and client representation.
